comfort food - masuki original bowl

it's that time of the year again when i go to binondo and help out in the contest. i've made it my rite to drop by masuki, the original ma mon luk. somehow i already know that place years ago but only stumbled upon its location when i started to explore the area. i didn't care that i already that yummy special ube siopao while waiting for the contest to be done. in my stomach, i had to get a bowl of this. then, i felt like it was the world's end, i had to eat two golf-ball size of compact and pure pork siomai.

what then is the rite in eating this bowl of noodles? i always order the original. the beef is too tasty if it's just all beef. the asado is too fatty. the plain chicken is pretty good but still, i'd stick it out with the original. the price depends on the condiments.

the bowl of noodles come in two sizes. this one is regular (P100). the bigger one (P120) with more soup and more noodles, i overheard, can be split and served in two. sometime ago, i tried that size and admitted i can never finish it.

what comes with the noodles are a cup of sweet sauce and chopped green onions. do not ask for calamansi or lemon to press into the soup. neither should one put soy sauce into it. put the chopped onions in to the soup. mix it. upon lifting the noodles, pour some sweet sauce over it before biting.

as for the siomai, it's pretty pricey at P30 each. since i had two, that was already P60. i only asked for one but the waiter gave me one order. what the heck, i'm not going to eat that much everyday.
